TURKIJE of EGYPTE – 20° EEUW Ottomaans zijden kiswah doek (99 x 142) in crèmekleurige zijde op rode fond, dat gebruikt werd voor de bekleding van de binnenmuren van de Kaaba. Bestaande uit lantaarnmotieven, cirkelvormige medaillons en gestileerde ‘7’ motieven. De geschriften bestaan uit ene herhaling van de ‘Kalimat al-Tawhid’, geflankeerd door inscripties van “Ya Mannan” en “Ya Hannan” in de lantaarnmotieven, “Praise be to Allah” in de medaillons en in de banden boven en onderaan Koran verzen van ‘Surah al-Baqarah’ (2:144) en ‘Surah al-Imran’ (3:96)
20th Century Turkish or Egyptian Ottoman silk inner kiswah curtain from the Kaaba, in cream-colored silk on a red ground. Comprising of lantern motifs, circular medallions and zigzag patterns forming a chain of stylized ‘7’ motifs. The central band repeats the ‘Kalimat al-Tawhid’, flanked by inscriptions of “Ya Mannan” and “Ya Hannan” within the lantern motifs, “Paise be to Allah” in the medallions and in the upper and lower bands Quranic verses from ‘Surah al-Baqarah’ (2:144) and ‘Surah al-Imran’ (3:96)
