MESOPOTAMIË – BASRA – 17° EEUW Ottomaanse Koran-Juz (deel) bestaande uit 10 folio’s, elk met 11 regels tekst, gebonden in een diep rode lederen band – 25 x 17 cm Elke pagina bevat drie regels in groot, elegant zwart thuluth-schrift en acht regels in kleiner zwart naskh-schrift. De tekst is verrijkt met gouden versrozetten, omlijnd in zwart en geaccentueerd met blauwe en rode stippen. De pagina’s zijn omlijnd met gouden randen en verder versierd met gouden en veelkleurige medaillons. Soera-titels zijn uitgevoerd in goud thuluth-schrift met zwarte omlijning. Het Manuscript is vervaardigd in een stijl die geassocieerd wordt met de beroemde kalligraaf Sheikh Hamdullah en is geschreven door ‘Ali al-Basri’.
17th Century Mesopotamian (Basra) Ottoman Quran-Juz (section) comprising 10 folios, each with 11 lines of text, bound in a deep red leather binding. Each page features three lines in large, elegant black thuluth script and eight lines in smaller black naskh script. The text is enriched with gold verse roundels, outlined in black and accented with blue and red dots. Pages are rules with gold borders and further adorned with gold and polychrome medaillions. Surah headings are rendered in gold thuluth script outlines in black. The manuscript is executed in a style associated with the renowned calligrapher Sheikh Hamdullah and is inscribed by ‘Ali alBasri’.
